Engaging Animated PSA for a Vibrant Beach Scene

I designed and produced a dynamic animated public service announcement (PSA) that captures the colorful essence of a beach environment. This animation project features a skateboarder performing an ollie in a monochromatic scene, seamlessly transitioning to a vivid, colorful display as they exit the frame. The background showcases a sunrise, flying seagulls, a sailing boat, and a bouncing beach ball, concluding with a memorable slogan to reinforce the message.

Animation Process and Techniques

All visual elements in this animation were meticulously crafted using Adobe Photoshop, with each component created in both monochromatic and full-color versions for maximum impact. Key elements, including the skateboarder, sailboat, and distant seagulls, were hand-drawn using a Microsoft pen for precision and authenticity. After finalizing the artwork in Photoshop, I imported the files into Adobe Illustrator to convert them into scalable vector images, ensuring crisp visuals across all platforms.To bring this animation to life, I employed advanced techniques to enhance realism and engagement:

• Dynamic Character Animation: The skateboarder’s movements are fluid, with their body compressing and rebounding upon landing, then compressing again to execute the ollie, creating a lifelike motion sequence.
• Sunrise Effects: The sunrise was animated by adjusting the sun’s position and scale, delivering a realistic dawn effect that elevates the scene’s atmosphere.
• 3D Axis Techniques: I applied 3D axis manipulation to the seagulls and sailboat. The sailboat tilts toward the boardwalk before angling away as it sails toward the horizon, achieved by tweaking the z-axis of the 2D image. The boat also scales up as it approaches the viewer, adding depth.
• Interactive Elements: The beach ball compresses upon hitting the ground, enhancing the animation’s energy and realism.

Tools and Skills Highlighted

This project demonstrates my expertise in animation design, digital illustration, and motion graphics using industry-standard tools like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. By combining hand-drawn artistry with vector conversion and 3D animation techniques, I created a visually compelling PSA that effectively communicates its message.
